Lunch & Learn: Holiday Ornaments

In a reboot of our Lunch & Learn series, our resident craft-smiths Suzy, Leslie-Anna, and Cynthia taught us how to make decorative ornaments for the holiday season. Each host brought one ornament idea for attendees to choose from; Suzy made a miniature sled, Leslie-Anna built a tree ornament with small artificial branches, and Cynthia provided another tree design that featured ribbon. They also brought cookies, cider, and a playlist of holiday music for the group to enjoy.

With the supplemental hot glue, tiny bells, buttons, and sticks of both the popsicle and cinnamon variety, the group got to work on the ornament of their choosing. Many of the class participants put their personal touches on their own variants of the provided models. A blue sled emerged among the many red ones, and those who did trees discovered endless possibilities for decorations. Yours truly went with Leslie-Anna’s idea: A tree with the small branches and a cinnamon stick for the trunk. It was decorated with little red pom-poms, bells, and a festive star bead at the top.

As the year comes to a close and we ring in 2019, we look forward to a new run of creative and informative Lunch & Learns from our staff! Please don’t hesitate to contact New Direction Trust Company with any questions or concerns about self-directed IRAs or your alternative investment options.
