To Our Valued Clients,
We are writing to inform you of some important updates to the Fee Schedule for your New Direction Trust Company account. The updates, including slight adjustments to our fees, will go into effect on November 1, 2021.
As always, New Direction Trust Company is committed to making it easier for you to manage your self-directed investments. We have incorporated client feedback and updated our Fee Schedule to make it clearer and more streamlined. For instance, we have eliminated the private market fee option of “Per Value” to align with current industry practices, though we will grandfather in all existing clients who have elected this fee structure. Similarly, we have consolidated our precious metals annual fee to one flat rate rather than pricing separately based on value. We have consolidated and in many instances reduced or eliminated (like the current ACH fee) many of the other fees.
As mentioned above, these fees will go into effect as of November 1, 2021, meaning new accounts opened after that date will have this fee schedule applied. Existing accounts will be charged under this new schedule on their existing billing cycle as the fees are assessed (e.g. time of annual renewal, activity or transaction). Fees will not be pro-rated.
Your feedback has been instrumental in helping us design a transparent fee schedule that helps you manage your account. As we continue to build upon our legacy of highest-quality client service and technology advancement, including adding increased functionality to our online portal and offering even more educational content — we hope you feel empowered in reaching your financial goals.
We greatly appreciate your continued business and support. If you have any questions regarding these updates, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@ndtco.com or 877-742-1270.
Sincerely,
Catherine Wynne and Bill Humphrey
NDTCO Co-Founders
Q: If I am a pre-existing account holder, and have selected the “Per Value” option, will I be grandfathered into the fee schedule I have currently selected?
A: Yes, existing clients that have selected the “Per Value” option will be grandfathered in with no expiration.
Q: Where can I reference the new fee schedule?
A: You can view our fees here: IRA Fees & Self Directed IRA Fee Information – NDTCO
Q: Where can I go to reference the account disclosure?
A: Account disclosures can be found on our website. You can view the full Fee Schedule or your respective 5305 under the Account Disclosures section.
Q: Why are you changing your fees?
A: We are changing our fees to make them clearer and more streamlined. This update will also help us to align with current industry standards.
Q: What do my fees cover?
A: Annual fee covers all of our bookkeeping services and IRS reporting, the infrastructure to properly hold unique assets within a retirement account, including software and computer hardware. We require knowledge, training, and education in order to facilitate transactions on behalf of our IRA holders.
The level of services rendered, based on the fees, is industry leading because of the fully integrated client portal and dedicated team available to assist our clients every step of their Journey with New Direction Trust Company. Our live customer support is available Monday through Friday during hours of operation, 8:30 AM -5:00 PM MST.
Q: Where can I view my fees?
A: Fees can be viewed online through the client portal, from the ‘Profile’ tab, under ‘Fee Options’. From there, you can view both annual and transaction fees on the account.
Annual Administration fees are charged when the account purchases a custodial asset and are charged on an annual basis thereafter.
Q: How can I put a credit card on file?
A: The payment method can be updated through the client portal.
Administration fees can be paid from your self-directed account or from the account holder personally. You can instruct New Direction Trust Company to pay for fees from your account or by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.)
Q: What if I do not agree with the new fees?
A: The new fee schedule will go into effect on November 1st, 2021. Up to that date, you can decide if you wish to continue with NDTCO or find a new custodian. If you decide to transfer out, NDTCO will not charge any transfer out fees if the request is submitted before November 1st. You can submit that request via a message in your client portal.
Q: I opened my account after 10/1/2021. What does this mean for me?
A: Nothing! When you opened your account the ‘Per Value’ option was no longer available to you, so you are already on the most up-to-date Fee Schedule possible.
